"The unthankful heart...discovers no mercies;
but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and,
as the magnet field finds the iron,
so will it find, in every hour, some Heavenly blessings!"
Henry Ward Beecher
In honor of Thanksgiving this month I want to express my gratitude for the many countless blessings that I experience everyday. Mostly I am thankful for the people in my life. I have the privilege to have amazing family members that I love unconditional. They have been wonderful examples to me and have given me not so wonderful examples to follow growing up. However, that is the wonderful thing about families, is no matter how bad you screw up, your family will love you no matter what. I have gained a greater love and appreciation for Heavenly Father's plan in bringing me into the family that I have been blessed with. My family has influenced me for the better and I hope I have had just a glimpse of influence in their lives. I have seen so many miracles brought to my life through family members that have shaped me into the young woman that I am today.
My mother is my ultimate hero. Despite the hardships she has faced in her many years, she still greets each day with a smile on her face. I love my mom so much, she has taught me many life lessons and I will ever be indebted to her. I have become more aware of my appreciation for my mother since moving out on my own. Granted I love living out on my own, but I slightly (just slightly) miss the days I would come home and I could talk for hours about my day and not one time does she ever interrupt to say how her day went. Her selfless acts of service have blessed me greatly. There have been days when she would let me sleep in on Saturdays while she is out grocery shopping and buying food for me, doing my laudry, cleaning the house that I lived in, doing the yard work to make the place where I live beautiful. While she is doing all these selfless acts of service for me, she still finds time to be there for me when I need her. Oh how I love her!! Now that I don't live at home anymore, she still calls me every once in awhile to see how I am doing, give me food when the supply is getting low, let me borrow things that I don't have. I hope that someday I can be just like the mom she is, she is the best example of mommyhood, all the while living the gospel and following the examples of the prophets.
My friends are AMAZING!!! I have been blessed to grow up with some pretty inspiring individuals who make living the gospel easy. We made lasting memories and went on some pretty righteous adventures. I never had to once, double check to make sure I was doing the things I should be doing. They are great examples of true friends. Not to mention the amazing boys I associated with in high school who are all serving or served missions, what a great example to me. I have known some of these boys since we were in primary together and girls still had "cooties". How times change, but they are still the same fun, loving boys that I have always known and how blessed I am to get to watch them grow into men and become worthy of a beautiful daughter of God someday. I am blessed continually to meet new friends everyday that have an impact on my life. There is not one day that goes by that I don't feel love from a friend. The smiles that they bring on my face is indescribable.
Lastly, I am grateful for the people that I work with! I work with some of the most inspiring people on the planet. These people show true love for mankind. Everyday that I work, I realize how blessed I am by these people that I get to associate with. Granted there are tough days (and a lot of them too) but they are always happy and keep me smiling and laughing. I get to go to work everyday and have fun all the while hoping I get to make just a little difference in their lives. They remind me that we can love everyone despite their shortcomings. We can pass judgement and see the real person behind the face and that we don't have to be someone that we aren't. CPI is my second family. It is a place I can go to be myself, have fun, and feel the love that they have for me. I am reminded everyday how much I love my job and how I wouldn't trade it for anything else. They have taught me so many lessons in life that I may never have learned working some meaningless hourly wage job.
I am just skimming the surfae of how blessed I am!! There is not enough words to express how grateful I am. Heavenly Father always finds a way to pour out the blessings where there is not room enough to receive.
